TerraSAR-X: Mission Support
Jump to: Mission Support Status, Current Tracking Statistics, Mission Support Request
ILRS Mission Support Status:
Satellite laser ranging data will be used for precise orbit determination and validation and is complementary to the onboard TOR GPS. The ILRS Missions Working Group (MWG) has reviewed the TerraSAR-X Mission Support Request Form and recommended the satellite for ILRS support; the ILRS Governing Board has approved the request.

Mission objectives: TerraSAR-X is an X-band SAR mission for scientific reasearch and applications, and for the establishment of a commercial EO market. It carries the experimental Tracking, Occultation and Ranging (TOR) package provided by GFZ and CSR. TOR consists of a two-frequency CHAMP type GPS receiver and a CHAMP Laser Retro-Reflector (LRR). The objectives of TOR are occultation measurements and POD for scientific occultation and SAR applications.
Mission role of SLR: SLR is complementary to onboard TOR GPS and is used for POD and validation.
